Real Millennium Group (TM) E-Mail Correspondence With Time (When viewing these files in Notepad, make sure you have your Word Wrap (under the "Edit" function) checked. *********************************** (This is a copy of the letter I had sent out to dozens of media and personalities, and e-mailed to Time) *********************************** Monday -- January 31, 2000 To Whom It May Concern, We have reached the end of the first month of the year 2000, and yet I find that my work is not done. The members and officers of the Real Millennium Group have undertaken the cause of educating the public, and the media, that the 21stCentury and 3rdMillennium do not begin until January 1, 2001. We were fighting an uphill battle all of 1999 -- with the commercialism involved and the vastness of the misconception due to the fact that the world was throwing the biggest New Year's Party since 1901. Now that the partying has ended, we had hoped that education and truth would return to news reporting, but apparently we were mistaken. Even with the year 2000 barely a month old, we are still being inundated with talk of the century and millennium -- the problem being that we are being told we are now living in the new divisions. The parties are over, the commercialism has overhyped itself into annoyance. I ask you, why must the misconception still be perpetuated? The 2000-ists had their year, at the very least, it is our time to get the recognition and sponsorship dollars that was freely thrown about in 1999. For the last 12 months, I have yet to receive a satisfactory response to my questions, when I have received a response at all. Now I ask the question again, and would like an answer, and one that is honest. Why cannot the media, and the public now acknowledge the fact that the new century and millennium are not yet here? Why are we now being inundated with the "first" of everything of the new century and millennium, just as we were inundated with the "last" of the 20th Century and 2nd Millennium in 1999? If we no longer care about the past and the truth, then why bother sending our children to school, or having laws to organize our society? How come the truth cannot be recognized by those in the best position to pass it on to a large audience? The Real Millennium Group is a young organization, but one with a lot of popular support, and our membership grows every day. We have members from all over the country, and just recently welcomed our first international member. As we grow, so will our voice, and our power. Rest assured that until these questions are answered, and our needs addressed, we will continue to use whatever means are necessary to promote education, and bring the truth to light, even if it means beginning legal action against those who continually refuse to acknowledge the truth, and/or perpetuate the misconception. The answers to the above questions can be sent to me at the address in our letterhead. Further information can be found on our web site at www.RealMillenniumGroup.com, I will continue to send letters until, as I have said, the truth is acknowledged. *********************************** From: SFigueroa@aol.com Subject: Your letter to TIME Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2000 14:23:35 EST We appreciate the logic of the debate over whether the world is in fact in the 21st century or in the 20th, which wouldn't end until December 31, 2000. In virtually universal popular observance, however, the simultaneous turning of the two zeros marks the beginning of each new century. And we see no practical value in going against that overwhelming preference and joining the comparatively few of the world's citizens who will wait for January 1, 2001, to mark the start of the new century and millennium. Thank you for writing, and best wishes. Sincerely, Gloria Hammond *********************************** Subj: Re: Your letter to TIME Date:2/24/00 9:56:34 PM Eastern Standard Time To:SFigueroa@aol.com So, if we suddenly wanted to celebrate Independence Day on March 4th, you would go along with that as well? Or how about if we decided it was no longer important to remember Pearl Harbor -- would you chastize anyone who mentions it against all public opinion? What happened to the simple Truth? Has that, and knowledge, no practical value? I suppose educating our youth no longer is important to you if the majority of the world wants to throw a party. FYI, from people I have spoken with, and reports I have seen, the majority of the worlds' population knew the truth -- but very few stood up for it. I guess that means cheating and lying to get what we want meets your approval. I have had many debates and discussions with many people over this subject, but this kind of response from someone involved with a large publication that relies on news, truth, and knowledge, is downright despicable. The Nazis burned books so they could promote their idea of the truth. By refusing to stand up and acknowledge the our history, and the real truth, makes you no better than them. *********************************** Subj: A Letter (and Response) About The Millennium Date:3/1/00 9:00:30 AM Eastern Standard Time To:Letters@time.com Ms. Gloria Hammond, I am writing again because I have yet to receive a satisfactory response to my inquiries. The first part of this letter is a response to your reply, which was also sent to the AOL address from which the reply was received. After that follows the new letter I am sending out this week. <> Having yet to receive a reply to my very valid questions from the last letter, I am writing again to find our why the news media keeps on insisting we are in a new century and millennium. I have written numerous times, and provided the researched facts on the matter that proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that the "new" (21st) Century and "new" (3rd) Millennium do not begin until January 1, 2001. To state anything otherwise is a bold-faced lie. Perhaps you can provide me with the researched facts you have used to make and support your claims that we are now living in the 21st Century and 3rd Millennium. Before I go any further, I should state that I am involved with this project and founded the RMG for the purpose of getting the Truth recognized. I state here, as I have stated on my web site, that getting the true date of the new century and millennium recognized and accepted is the primary purpose of our group. I do not do this for the publicity, and certainly don't do this to make any money. I want our history, our knowledge, and our truth to be spoken and embraced by those who claim to hold those ideals as close to their hearts as their integrity, but so far have failed to do so in this case. Whether the RMG is ever mentioned is completely irrelevant to our purposes. But then again, this isn't the first time the "legitimate" media have taken on the looks and manners of their tabloid cousins. I need only mention the names of Richard Jewel and JonBenet Ramsey to highlight the most embarrassing cases of media falsehoods and stupidity. These cases highlight the gross negligence of the media in researching and reporting the facts, a negligence that has now returned in full force concerning the foundations of our very history and mathematics. In the previous two cases there was an element of doubt surrounding the guilt or innocence of the people under the media's microscope. With the century and millennium, there is no doubt, and nothing can change the facts that are there for all to see, if they bother to do a little footwork and head down to their local library. What if Copernicus and Galileo continued to be ignored by the church and the "Beliefs" it held? Where would the world be today without the pursuit of Truth and Knowledge. What if we wanted to start celebrating Independence Day on March 4th, or to celebrate America's Tricentennial in 2001, and spent a whole bunch of money to organize nationwide parties -- would you jump onto the bandwagon for this idea too? A lot of response I have gotten has been "What does it matter?" The truth always matters, or at least it should. It's that simple. "There's nothing we can really do, is there?" Of course we can do something. That's what the RMG is for -- doing something. At the very least each and every one of us who knows the truth can stand up and admit it, in whatever forum they use, whether it be in a newspaper article, a news telecast, a radio commercial, or just over the phone. The above two responses I have gotten are nothing more than cop outs. The fact that the RMG exists and that we try to teach our children right from wrong prove that there is something we can do, and that the truth, any and all truth, are important. But from the responses, and lack of such, in this matter, you would think that anyone stating the millennium and century begin in 2001 is saying that gravity doesn't keep us plastered to the surface of the earth, but it is the work of giant invisible hands pressing down on the tops of our heads doing it. We're viewed as the crackpots, when it is the 2000-ists that are the ones with the outlandish theories. I'm almost ready to join the Flat Earth Society in hopes of getting the truth acknowledged. It seems that it cannot be, based on it's own merits. Rest assured, I will continue to write -- even a letter a day, if necessary, until I receive a satisfactory response to my legitimate questions, and the truth is acknowledged. I look forward to hearing from you. *********************************** Subj: Some facts about when the world celebrated past centuries Date:3/3/00 10:01:12 PM Eastern Standard Time To:letters@time.com CC:SFigueroa@aol.com Ms. Hammond, Having reviewed your reply to my original letter for future reference for our web site, I came across another statement that I had not answered in my previous responses. I already told you that the majority of the world knows of the actual date of the turnovers (2001), and even now am having a very worthwhile discussion with one such person, but you also stated that it was "in virtually universal popular observance, however, the simultaneous turning of the two zeros marks the beginning of each new century." If you had bothered to do any research on the subject at all, you would have known that it has been "virtually universal" to mark the turning of the centuries in the "01" year up until now. Ever since the term century came into use, the turnovers have been celebrated at the appropriate time with the exception of a very small minority. It is only with this year have we done otherwise, primarily because of the attitude you have shown with your response by those in the media. I ask you again, since when has truth and education "no practical value?" I truly would like an answer to this. I realize your time is limited, and may not have the ability to answer all letters written, but when it comes to such an important topic such as this, time must be made. My time is limited as well, but feel that the historical nature of this event, and the proper education of our youth important enough to spend a few extra hours on. *********************************** Subj: Letter to the Editor Date: 5/19/00 7:04:24 PM Eastern Daylight Time To Gloria Hammond and Time Magazine, I am sure you will be glad to know that I will no longer support Truth and Knowledge in our reporting and our society in general. I have finally come around to your point of view, that history and truth has no place in this world if what appears to be the majority of the public (whether the majority is actual or not), deem it not necessary to hold a celebration. What brought me around is the fact that we will be unable to celebrate America's Tricentennial at the proper time, in 2076. Being only 6 years old when the Bicentennial came around, and having no memory of this event, I thought it very unfair that those of us living today should miss out on this mementous event, due to such a minor technicality as a date. Therefore, the Real Millennium Group will be holding a country-wide Tricenntennial Celebration on July 4, 2001. That way, all of us living today will be able to experience the pride and excitement of honoring America's 300th birthday, even though that day is still 76 years away. I am hoping Time, due to the fact that you supported the wrong date for the millennium, will join us in promoting this celebration. Information about the events and celebration can be found on our web site at www.RealMillenniumGroup.com. There are links for "Tricentennial Celebration on the Welcome page and the site map.
